If you follow a mudflapped Series on a motorway the flaps don’t half flap about. Can’t see them being very effective in rain.
Following Beardy Paul across Europe his flappy flaps were quite hypnotic after a couple of hours.  :stars

They will get ripped off if you reverse against a rock/the kerb at Sainsburys. Pointless.

Other supermarkets available. And i have not yet ripped mine whilst driving/reversing around the car park at work. Might have damaged an indicator lens though whilst reversing. But that's because i was investigating some thieving people robbing the clothing bank early hours of the morning. I forgot a lampost was there. But the mudflaps survived.

A few years ago I read a post on a forum discussing the pros-n-cons of rear mud flaps.  Can't remember which forum, it could of even been the Land Rover Owners mailing list.

The main 'con' people mention was the flaps getting ripped off in certain situations, such as off reading, mud bogs and etc.

One member suggested what he did with his when he ended up in situations where it was possible.  He drilled two holes along the bottom of each mud flap and then installed metal grommets in the holes.  When he encountered one of those situations he inserted a length of paracord through the grommets and then pulled the flaps upward, tying them off on the rear crossmember grab bars.  He could raise the flaps up as high as needed depending on the situation.

Mpudi: So how did the land rover get up the tree?
Steyn: Do you know she has flowers on her panties?
Mpudi: So that's how it got up the tree.

Forgot one aspect as to why I wanted them, other than the reasons mention above - the flaps I got say 'Land Rover'.

Even with the badge on the back that says 'Land Rover' many people still ask - "what kind of jeep is that", or some such.  On these the 'Land Rover' stands out more.

I do intend to paint the lettering, just need to figure out the best paint to use.

Yes... it's a vanity thing....   :thud

Is there a brand you'd recommend?

I used "toyo marker" auction: #161648699732
and was satisfied with the results

In my opinion it's yellow for letters that stick out of the mat and white for letters cut into the mat!

Agreed in re the raised vs inset.

As to the pen... that's the brand I was looking at.  So, it works well for you?  I was reading through the reviews on Amazon and they were pretty bad with an overall rating of 3.5.  Following is the link.

I would say they're suitable and have a practice before committing.
