I've been using my (inherited from my dad 45 years ago!) Vernier callipers today as neither of the digital ones in my workshop would work   

Fed up of replacing batteries, and one of them now goes wild when trying to measure, display lying to me   

Not sure whether a 'good, named brand' would be better, or just keep on buying the cheap disposable ones - or...... keep using my 70+ year old one!

I agree the Manuel ones are a lot better, they won't run t of battery and the display won't crack break and leak

If I wanted to be pedantic....

They are digital callipers, not digital Vernier's.

The word Vernier relates to the Vernier scale that is on normal, Vernier callipers. Once that is removed they become just callipers. Pretty useless unless you add a dial or a digital display to them. Hence the correct term is digital callipers......

But I'm not pedantic so I'll not mention it........

Yes, and jolly good for the price too!

Their Northern Ireland branches recently had the Plasma Cutters,
according to another forum,
so keep your eyes on the offers page if you want one.
