Just out of interest, what are you trying to do with it?

My dad has an iCarsoft code reader for Land Rover and Jaguar models that can read most systems on the later Range Rovers and Discoveries, he has an L322 RR.

If you are after engine codes then I have a cheap, generic code reader from ebay that reads the OBDII basics and can be very useful for my P38 Range Rover as well as my little Toyota car.

I want to turn off the immobiliser function, as if I leave it unused for a few days or less it immobilises itself and the code has to be input with the door key which you may know is a pain! (and how long before the switch contacts give up)

Ah, the EKA (Emergency Key Access)  :shakeinghead
I know it well having played with my P38 Range Rover and having the battery disconnected for a period of three years!
Unfortunately my fathers iCarsoft reader won't access that kind of level of detail otherwise I would have suggested sending it over to you.

Does it immobilise itself?, or the battery go flat, thus causing the problem?

If you know anybody local with a Rover / LR T4, you can reset the market programming on Discovery 2. You can keep it as UK spec, but there is a specific setting required for airside at airports which allows you to programme out the immobiliser and alarm. Best not tell your insurance company though...

If you were closer, I'd do it for you for the price of a beer.

Just a thought, but I wonder if its something simple like the alarm receiver in the headlining (behind the front sun roof) playing up? I take it both remotes are not responding? All this can be tested with a T4 or similar.

Remotes!
These did not work which I put down to damp in the roof bit now reduced / stop the water leaks they now seem to work but I now only lock/unlock with the key as the very high winds or hail stones set off the alarm which dont when key locked.
The airport function seems ideal, is it a option on the Nanocom?, or other device...

After some more thinking in the shower.... I wonder if I can get the immobiliser removed but keep the alarm?
and perhaps post (insured service) the box to a expert who could do the work and I pay him/her and plug the box back in?
or would that not work :stars
