SMF 470F
« on: October 27, 2021, 10:59:35 AM »

Hello all,

I`m sure we`ve all done it, been watching an old film or documentary when our attention was grabbed at the sight of an old Land Rover. Yesterday I spotted SMF 470F starring in a film from the early 1970s and having checked the Gov.co.uk site I`m pleased to find she`s still on the road.

Taxed until September 2022 the date of her first registration November 1967. In the film she was an 88" soft top.

I wonder if her owner could be among us or is known to members here. Its possible the owner doesn't know about her film fame.

One of the original owners of FWD Motors in Hampton Wick (South West London) was blind. He used to road test the Land Rovers by driving them up and down the alleyway to the yard. He used to feel his way along the wall!
Regrettably he was long gone (along many years of valuable experience) before I was involved there.

When autonomous cars come in it won't matter whether the "driver" is blind. He won't even need to be in the car. He might be in the pub, and phone home to get his car to come and pick him up.

No wonder so many twentysomethings aren't taking driving tests. They won't need to be able to drive soon... :agh :agh :agh :agh

Craig.

Well found Craig. She's looking good for her age and is evidently being well cared for.

Finding her owner here was always going to be a long shot but its a pity we can`t let her owner know she's a sixties film star.
