It is good stuff and useful for all sorts, my last project was a bulkhead " rotiserie " for welding / rebuild and it worked well.
Don't forget there are a huge range of bracketry available too which makes effective gussets etc.

Now that's a good idea, I don't suppose you have any photos / a drawing? My son has this idea on a back burner for future as if we have to repair Bobs bulkhead it would have to be a DIY job and a jig would be perfect

Hi,

I did briefly ponder about removing the roof panel .... and refitting it upside down. Then I thought about rain, which reminded me of Barbara's Sabre 6 (Google 361WYD IMAGES) ... braking hard provoked a tidal wave down the length. of the cab floor. Most of the car leaked ... but the GRP floor didn't.

Jig - no photos sorry it was before I owned a digital camera, easy to make though and I believe smokey2a has some photos uploaded to this site of his jig.

If you make out of unistrut put it on wheels as the jig will be heavy yet very rigid.

While we are on the subject of roof racks, does anyone have or has ever seen a genuine Land Rover roof rack from the 60's?

This image is from the series three catalogue but I think there was an earlier one that had feet that rested on the strengthening bars on the roof panel. Apparently you had to bore four large holes in the tropical roof if you were fitting it to a station wagon.

I don't really want one, just curious if any still exist.

Craig.

Hi Craggie,

Do you know if "OE"holes are still available, and if so, do you know the Part Number?

I'll get my coat!

In the 80's I made an inverted roof rack. really useful! My kids slept in it in the desert rather than set up a tent.
