BOATs in Northumberland and Borders area
« on: April 25, 2023, 11:47:16 AM »

My S2a has just relocated from Wensleydale to Scotland, where, of course, there are no green lanes.
I am planning a meet-up with a pal from Durham and would like any advice on where we could enjoy a long off road drive in the S2a. I would be more interested in getting into the hills on tracks, rather than mud plugging and wading!!
Any suggestions please!

Ian get in touch with Phil Vasey the Borders AR, I am sure that he will be able to point you to quite a lot of stuff round Alston in Weardale

Coldberry End is the highest publicly driveable byway in England, which is at the top of Teesdale.

I once got my P38 well stuck in a snowdrift and it took three vehicles to tow it out.

Hi Ian, There are some great lanes around Alston, I’ve got your email, I’ll reply later tonight with some lanes round Alston.

Many thanks Phil. I dropped you an email because I wasn't sure what your forum name might be. Now I know!

P.s. the closer to Berwick the better for me - minimises the tarmac to be covered in the S2a

Or you could join GLASS, and have access to Trailwise?
