Last night was the office film night.  This month the winner of the film ballot was Point Break, 1991.  I mistook the setting of the finale as Torquay, Devon, when apparently it's supposed to be in a similarly named town in Australia.  Anyway, getting to the important business, Keanu turns up in Torquay in a Series 2, reg 549 EUE.  Apparently a UK number plate.  Checking DVLA tax records it's not been taxed since 1989, and last changed hands in April 1984.  Does anyone know if this vehicle has survived?  Or maybe it's in Australia now.

there is also a 109 station wagon in point break, when they're surfing at night.

I just had a quick look and apparently they filmed the Australia scenes in the US, pretty common there to keep the old UK plates on.

Yes, I spotted that one on the beach.  I think there's a glimpse of a 109 in the car chase too.

Maybe it resides over there now then.  They could have shipped it over for the film.  That would tie in with the last time it was taxed over here.

I have not seen that film in ages, the one with president mask wearing bank robbers?

I have an added reason to give it another watch.

Surely the surf sequences were not filmed in the country the land rover registered in???
