Polished the long scratch out of the new paint that I got when laning at Rutland a couple of weeks ago and I looked at the wiring on the electric demisters ready for refitting.  Fume curtain fitted as SWMO was complaining of the cold.

Finished rewiring the interior light, too many joints so stripped out the old wiring complete with hidden bullet connectors in the roof rib and put in new cable and on/off switch, the light now works with the door switches too, very posh eh!
Didn't work at first but with some fiddling about found the fuse on the bulkhead was corroded so didn't pass too much current.... now all working again.  :-*

Italian tune-up. Seems to have made my "fumes in the cabin" problem much smaller. :) Maybe my valves had gunk on them or something which I haze managed to get rid of?
Hit quite a few bumps at quite high speeds, and thought I'd cracked the windscreen top-to-bottom when a line appeared after dark. Turned out it was just a line of mank which the wiper left when I accidentally turned it on for a second or two instead of my fan when I was getting cold, and then hoiked it out of the way in the reverse direction using the manual lever.

Getting ready for winter.

Cab restoration - removed the glass and replaced the felt channels. Stripped the paint off the galvanised parts and repainted. All glass installed and cab fitted.

Door tops - the door tops were pretty sound but the studs were completely shot. Bought some replacement studs and had them welded on. Very solid. Painted and then replaced all the seals and refitted the glass.

Now need to buy the door seals. They seem quite expensive. Any suggestions where I should go?

Made a handbrake gaiter using the plans from the forum.

I used some leather out of the offcut box and under guidance from my wife hand punched/stitched it together.  It's maybe not quite as intended but it was a nice distraction from reality for a while.  Leather work needles are blunter than normal sewing needles so you don't stab yourself either which is nice!

I too, would be interested in how and where you put in the door switches.

Confirmed that the panel lights are not working because the switch is goosed - both contacts very loose. Ordered a new one from AES.

Fitted an ebay purchased clock, originally part of a Volvo 240, in one of the redundant ammeter holes ( Originally a 24v FFR, Tonka would have had two, one for the vehicle batteries, one for the radio batteries). The other hole now sports a voltmeter.

Replaced the voltage regulator with a solid state one, the old one (which was actually new) only showed 4.8v. The new one is fine, my fuel gauge works again...

Found a discarded "Penalty Charge Notice" wrapper on the roadside - probably one of the 145 that Stirling Council handed out last weekend for dangerous parking at the base of Ben A'an - Its supposed to be a Clearway but is being regularly ignored, Police closed the road completely two weekends running in August.  I shall retain the wrapper for a future wind-up... I'm thinking the next time some-one parks on our entrance track....  :-\ :-\ :-\

On Ebay search "Fake Parking Tickets".
Plenty choice!
