I am still waiting to celebrate my 70th birthday, it was in the middle of the last lockdown but we managed to see our boys that day.  When/if we  back to some kind of normality I will have a birthday celebration.

Keep safe everyone

Delivered a dining table to friends a few miles away using the revamped trailer too. My wifes first trip in Tonka since the engine rebuild. Verdict - "Distinctly less fumes in the cab". Thats a major plus, she used to complain that even short trips made her feel ill "from petrol fumes".  A few more bulkhead holes to fill with grommets and we might be getting there.

Went to the scrapyard and received the land Rover there of the oil filter, distributor drive, rear hubs and halfshafts, seat base lid, Speedo, chassis plate and oil filler baffle plate. The engine isn't looking too good anymore all the cylinders are full of water rust since I took the head last time...

Re-fitted the steering box to the SWB so it can now be manoeuvred from its current resting place and brought home.

Unfortunately the later will have to wait until after lockdown   :thud

Drove down to Symonds Yat for a glorious autumn ramble and picnic with friend up from Stroud way. Last purely pleasure trip for a while, now, back to just sneaking it out for the weekly shopping trip occasionally.....

Paul the Postie handed me the letter, I walked indoors, fired up the computer and taxed Tonka at "Nil" again.

This is a nonsense, its costing the Govt money to send me the letter. Why not just make "Nil Tax" a rolling thing, assumed to continue until and unless the owner tells them otherwise....

Been a member in the past and have finally started putting my 1960 2l diesel back together. Over the last few weeks got axels, engine, gearbox, tank and coolant system in. I have had landrover for 20+ years lying in bits when I went to put engine back in it was solid so have had it sat a month with diesel in the bores. Amazingly now it runs had to also strip pump and free that up. I will now start shoving it back together so I can have it inspected it has been off the road since 1967 I have the tax disc and the entry from Lancaster archive linking the reg to the vin. The landrover is a soft top and came from royal trune golf course the green keeper used it and when he retired took it to cumbria. It has never been painted and is completely original unfortunately the doors were shot and need replacing not sure how I will match the patina as I don't want to over restore it
