Nice leisurely drive out at dinner time along the lanes around Anglezarke Reservoir and stopped to watch the fly past over Chorley by the Red Arrows. Spotted a nice 1958 Jaguar too.

We were very pleasantly surprised to find it displayed on the cover of B2L!!  Perfect timing too as it is Michelle's birthday!

A big thank you to those involved in all that went on at Ripon.

Definitely time to fix the wing though and correct that clocked sidelight  :agh

Up to Glencoe for a night in "the doss", stopping for a bike ride up Glen Falloch on the way. The Kings House hotel is all changed these days. Demolished and rebuilt by the Stella empire, its now all gone up market. My patinad S2 is parked for the night in amongst about 25 shiny waxed Rollers and Bentleys of all ages on their "Skyfall 2021" tour. Looking forward to meeting some other S2's tomorrow ...

Removed gearbox mainshaft with some gentle tapping ready to strip down in order to check the  2nd 3rd sleeve tolerances . Third gear is sticking at one point on the sleeve when turned by hand and I think the sleeve is moving on the shaft , hence the decision to remove it. As I have taken the plunge and ordered a Genuine synchro hub from Blanchards I want to get it all right and not destroy another synchro !

Have you got a selection of spigot bushes to try ???
You might find some variation in fit.

I only have the one bush which came with the clutch, but I will go and see the local Land Rover garage tomorrow and see what they have.

The S. Scotland "run out" to Sheriffmuir and the Roman Fort at Braco.... tarmac for the Landrovers, coffee and a country walk for the crew...

I called into my local LR specialist yesterday and checked out the bush's they held. They were very slightly tighter than the one I had, but I couldn't measure the difference using my digital vernier.

When fitted, the bush is a nice fit to the input shaft.

A "call-out"from the National Park Rangers to a little old lady with a flat battery on the Forest Drive. V Reg Ducato... she had called "Green Flag" who refused to come despite her £400 Policy as the vehicle was over 20 years old...

Jump start and away she goes to the garage in Aberfoyle.

Do check your breakdown cover actually covers your vehicle !

Wandering what's going on at Paddocks. They sent me the wrong prop shaft a week ago, and still haven't answered the email I sent about it the same day it arrived. They did answer the phone 3 days ago to say they were short staffed and would eventually respond, but since then nothing. I've emailed them again an hour ago. No useful reply, but within 15 minutes of sending it, got an email from their system asking me to review my recent purchase for TrustPilot. Considering their normally excellent service, this is all very odd. I don't really want to give them a bad review, but its getting to the point I might have to.

I'm not defending poor service ... BUT

I do wonder in these times if our expectations are set too high ???

Short staffed and delays in deliveries are understandable.

That said, I recently placed 2 small orders with Paddocks and delivery was excellent - even with the road closed to our part of the village entailing a 5 mile detour !
BUT - why o why does every online transaction involve a series of emails "how did we do ? " and this Trust Pilot nonsense.
I would never look-up Trust Pilot for anything  :shakeinghead

AND - I'm not responding for the purchase of a nut & bolt and a sump gasket  :shakeinghead

So happy, my Landy is back and running after the long holiday in the garage getting some repairs.  Now my left leg knows what pressing the clutch feels like again!  Happy bunny

Yesterday. After an hour long struggle I got the snap ring off the gearbox mainshaft and slid third off complete with the brass sleeve stuck inside it. The other part of the sleeve is proving to be unwilling to come off so my next move is to use some ingenuity to complete the strip down.

New genuine 2 part sleeve and three snap rings ordered from Blanchards . ( The genuine synchro hub that I ordered last Saturday night arrived Tuesday , excellent as always

Removed the incontinent brake master cylinder, scraped the damaged paint off, washed down the spillage and primered the footwell. dismantled the old m/cylinder and found nothing amiss, hmm. The new m/cylinder is different in so much as a different casting and machining and, comes with a 2 year guarrantee so hopefully this one will last longer than 300 miles.
