Easter Open Days at Imber.

The village of Imber on Salisbury Plain is open Good Friday April 7th to Easter Monday April 10th. The church is open 10am/4am except Easter Monday when it's open 10am/3pm.

The Army folk among us will have spent many a happy hour getting rained on/digging into the chalk at Imber and its environs :-)

I believe the original inhabitants were promised their homes would be returned post-war but the cost of clearing unexploded ordnance means....

I went there with the LRSOC just before Christmas and had a great day. I understand that the original inhabitants were in fact tenants, nit owners. The MOD (or whatever it was in those days), had bought the entire village before the war. Poor sods actually didn't have a leg to stand on.

Was it the War Office then?
