You don't have to join our club, except that members get a discount for the inspection and that saves a bit.....

That leads me to the obvious question! How much would the inspection cost!

Peter Holden our VRO has all the details.

It was only my feeling that an inspection would be required in this case.
Peter is the absolute authority on this.

Even my limited numeracy makes the answer obvious. I think I'll join later today.

It's a great shame that I may not be reviving the vehicle myself. Land Rovers are the only vehicles I've ever wanted to own and I had three of them before the one I'm likely to sell. I bought the first before I was old enough to have a license!

Hullo everyone

I've sold the vehicle. I'd like to thank everyone who replied for the very useful advice. This is obviously a first-class club with friendly and knowledgeable members and I just hope that one day I'll once again own a SII, I won't think twice about joining then.

I was offered a fair price but had to accept a small reduction as it turned out that the chassis number on the V5 didn't quite match that on the vehicle. An 0 had been mis-typed at a D!

Thanks again all!

Not that unusual, a 2 in my V5 had been shown as a Z since 1984...

Hullo again, and many thanks for the useful advice so far. I'll be taking some photos in a day or so and will post here.

I do have the documentation but it's in my late Father's name, he died in 1999. I suppose that could be a problem, I haven't got a clue what to do about it though. (I paid for the vehicle but it was always registered to my Father to cheapen the insurance.)
V5 used to state at one point that it is not proof of ownership. It is purely the registered keeper.  i could buy a car from you, registered in your name but you default on payments and the credit company will look to cease the vehicle as they are the legal owners (or something along those lines)
