OT ... VAT EXEMPTION FOR DISABLED FACILTIES.
« on: September 24, 2022, 04:46:24 AM »

Hi,

Click on, read and remember. but probably not worth a discussion. I don't know if DIY purchases are exempt.

NEW "disabled" cars can be VAT exempt.

Sadly no on the diy front it’s pretty clear cut.

If you do the work yourself or a friend, neighbour or member of your family does the work for you free of charge the materials cannot be bought VAT-free.

That said you can often save 20 percent by shopping around on stuff - and I think b&q still do a good discount for senior citizens on a Wednesday- someone eligible will know I’m sure.

Well worth bearing in mind for anyone having that kind of work done by builders though. You used to get vat free on work to protect listed buildings but that got taken away.

Hi DD,

I believe you can buy a new car, for the use of a disabled person, VAT EXEMPT. Google will find it. Be a bit nit-picky over the wording.
