It might be happening sooner than you think....
As 'self driving' technology rolls out I suspect we will see more and more of active integration of speed limit sensitive software (JLR are already well on with this..

Yep you are not wrong.

New rules provisionally agreed by the EU mean that speed limiters will become mandatory for all vehicles sold in Europe from 2022.

Don't think Brexit will get us out of this whenever it happens :-X
 
Good thing or bad thing, let the arguement begin. All that's certain is it will happen.

Hi,

If speed limiters are mandatory (and MOTable?) only on post-2022 cars, then the number of speeding cars being caught will gradually reduce as they rust away.

UNLESS the same technology can be employed to catch us doing something else.
