PANIC OVER ... I hope
« on: August 16, 2019, 07:01:26 PM »

Hi,

Some of you may have noticed that I hi-jacked my own reply, in one mail.

I logged off this forum, and was presented with a professional looking, full screen message telling me my PC had been corrupted. They were going to pull my plug in 200 ... 199 ... 198... etc seconds, and I would lose all my files. Love and kisses from AOL.

I sent off a "distress flare" by the quickest means I could think of.

Hmm! I wonder if I'm still here. What does Heaven look like?

As far as I can tell you're here.  Unless this is all a big imaginary playground in the mind of a super-sentient being that allows us to think we're alive?

What's the Latin verb for "to change oil"?  Mutationem, ergo, sum?

Hi,

Well, I'm here, after a lot of faffing about (including finding that the "3" key on my other lap-top wasn't working. Not a problem, apart from trying to use both a lap-top and a plug-in keyboard, in bed, at 04.30hrs. Not conducive to matrimonial harmony. I won't try that again. (I'm usually in the "study" when on line).

I'm not yet sure that funny things are not happening. More anon ... if I find "more".

PS, It's the "5" key doesn't work on this keyboard, but my desk has room for both the lap-tap and the keyboard. I wonder if they could make lap-tops smaller and cheaper, if they didn't have a built in keyboard? But then the screen would be too small (for my comfort) so it would need a seperate screen too. Might as well go straight for a desk-top.

But hey! Lap-tops are a darned sight cheaper than desk-top. So why can't they build the gubbins from a lap-top into a metal box, and call it a desk-top, for half the price?

Sorry, rambling again.
