Yes - the clue is somewhat in the name = Victoria Cross as in Queen Victoria (1837–1901).

My dada nd grandad didnt get the VC but grandad got a MM in the first world war and my dad a DFM in the second, he had the priveledge of flying with Squadron Leader Edward Swales VC whist their pilot was in hospital recovering from wounds.

I have their medals and the citation for dads unfortunately not for grandad
