Hi,

Not an S2, but my Freelander/ And yesterday, not today.

I removed a couple of vindictive thorn bushes from my front hedge, by wrapping a 50mm wide lifting sling around them, and towing them out of the ground.

I still have a couple more stiil to extract, but they are more substantial. I think I will need to loosen them a bit first.

I usually remove fence posts using the "dentist" method ... push hard the other way, before pulling. A couple of thumps with the front bumper usually loosens the post.

A neighbour has arranged a 6cu.yd skip for me. Circa £250, which works out cheaper than a HIPPO bag. Two problems ... where an I going to put it ... and can I maintain shovelling 1000kg of soil, day in day out?

Many is the time when I've removed bushes with an engine crane - a vertical almost straight line pull works a treat. I was asked to remove a very nice large and very old rose bush from a friend's garden some years ago without damaging it so it could be transplanted to a safer location. Engine crane out, gentle break of surrounding soil with a fork and it came out with the entire root structure intact and undamaged. Every gardener should have an engine crane...

^^^^ Many years ago, the Landrover was in the Main Dealers. They gave me a Mercedes as a "courtesy car"....and I had an old wriggly tin shed that needed pulling down that weekend.
