Installed my new parts washer in the workshop.

Actually, the old dishwasher - it's still working but most of the plastic parts inside are breaking up, leaving rust stains on the crockery. I hope it doesn't leave rust stains on my LR bits!

I've always had a problem with my N'S front brake, it has never given consistent scraping noises, and always stuck at one point. I was always pulling it apart looking for problems.

A thought occured, what has remained the same – the wheel. So put the spare wheel on, the brakes worked satisfactorily! Cleaned corrosion off the back of the original wheel, brakes OK now.

Bad back has forced me to swap the handbrake lever to a later cranked version. Much easier to operate now.

Also checked the points and timing. It was a couple of degrees retarded, sitting at 1 degree btdc. Set it to 3 and it feels a bit sharper. Throttle progression is definitely improved. I thought E 10 petrol would have made it pink at 3, but seems fine so far.

So do you have a water supply in your workshop or are using some other self contained system ?

I have a water supply over a Belfast sink, so I have a drain as well. Plus there's a small hot water heater for hand washing.

It felt very domestic in there with the parts washer running!

Gearbox installed , made easier by selecting first gear so I could turn the shaft from the back end , helping the input shaft to line up. Then the clutch mechanism , handbrake connections , transfer lever and finally the overdrive complete with anti scuff paste which I believe helped enormously when pushing it forwards into place for that last inch or so.

Just got to get a rear prop shaft on and I am ready for the test run.

Put a marigold over by dizzy, removed the fixed fan, remounted a (new) fire extinguisher as the twin tank switch lever kits in the way of the previous location, screwed a few things down that rattled their way loose.

I have been welding and reinforcing parts of my chassis, next month I should be ready to paint it.
First epoxy primer, then black polyurethane.

I am also installing electronic injection to my brother's SIIA, I already installed an oxygen sensor and a temperature sensor, they still have a lot to do ...

Almost installed crankshaft - waiting on thrust washers! Almost got the pistons and conrods together - can't remove the conrod bushes to replace them - so off to the machine shop. Drilled out alloy core plugs from the head, now waiting on core plugs from the UK. Wire wheeled the air filter and battery box stand. So you know... a bit of a mixed evening.

Up early and round to the neighbours for more bales. The beasties get through a lot of feed at this time of year. First snow on the hilltops and a cold wind sharpens their appetite !
Should have got a picture...

Increased the range of the car!

Was only getting about 75-100 miles out of a tank full of petrol before reaching empty (on the gauge), so investigated. Bent the arm on the sender straight, just got 150 miles out of a tank - much better!

If only the rest of problems had such easy fixes. Well done!
