What you did with your Series 2s in August
« Reply #30 on: August 13, 2019, 09:19:07 AM »

At the weekend used it to transport my model railway to a local show. Getting it in was an interesting affair, as more and more items were unscrewed and removed. A SWB does not have a lot of room inside.

It rained heavily on it on Sunday, dry inside - result!

Yes an 88'' isn't much good for model railways although my 88'' did cart all the stock boxes and lighting rig for a mates layout to the big Glasgow show when his passat estate was full of his layout.
Tim hasn't mentioned his previous layout 'Clutton' in GWR days which I thought was superb.

Hi Tim.

420 mile round trip to the Yorkshire Dales and back to Norfolk via Leeds. 6 hrs going due to traffic jams on A1 but only 4 hrs coming back from Leeds. Nearly 32mpg cruising at 55 mph when I could. Well pleased with new engine now with 4000 miles covered  :cool

Went to get new tyres , 12 miles, roof off, lovely. Cruising at 50mph. 3 deestones cracked! Rubbish although 4 years old I expect more. Sent them back for consideration.

Ran back on an old deestone and Avon and suprisingly bumpy ride.

Gave it another dose of waxoyl on the outside of the chassis (must get round to the inside) I also gave the springs a do with it jacked up under the chassis.

I can get to the inside of the long g sections of the chassis but has anyone drilled access holes in the box section cross members  and outriggers?

I also got the indicators working again, probably the last job before leafers as other things are getting in the way.

Yesterday evening. Took it to Sywell Aerodrome near Wellingborough to meet up with fellow S2C members and East Northants Land Rover Club where Mike Brewer and his team were filming for a TV programme which had something to do with an old Land Rover  :cool

We spent the weekend with the new forest and Solent crew at the Purbeck ralley
It was the first event we have attended since 2013 the rally at hole park. Thanks to James for the invite and Kevin,Dave, rob and anyone else I have forgotten for the warm welcome Debbie Olivia and myself received, due to health issues it was great
To get out and get amongst land rover people again and get some confidence back.
It was a great event the series 2 club were parked next to the series 1 club , also steam engines ,classic cars motorbikes tractors and autojumble and a beer tent with two bands .A bit windy on Saturday but Sunday was lovely , so thanks the new forest and Solent group see you again

Sold one of my landrovers yesterday, looks like it's gone to a good home. Not your normal sale though, filming involved and will be on discovery channel December /January time
