Post by: w3526602 on March 15, 2021, 10:34:16 PM
Hi,

While at RAF Weeton (Blackpool) the Driver and Mechanics school, (and air-frame fitters school), I moved straight from trainee to permanent staff. Then one day I was told to pick up my tool box, and take up residence in the driving school office, with instructions to "vet" any vehicle put U/S, and fix them myself if I could. Thinking back, it was probably a compliment ... about a hundred driving sclool trucks, all "mine" .Bedford SL and RLs, Austin Loadsters (Lodestars?) Land Rovers, Standard Vanguards, DB tractors, even a Douglas Sentinal (V-bomber tractor?). I only ever met one other ... in the sands of Arabia. ... and by IN , I mean sunk in sand.

A WRAF trainee driver put a Vanguard U/S .. because it wouldn't start. She said it was because the distributor wasn't turning. Repeat DISTRIBUTOR .. not the rotor arm.  :stars
