Still a bit sad that I did not bite my lip and accept standard cruise control as th Jimny is great value for money.Hi,
Barbara, complete with legs managed to climb into my Jimny passenger seat
once, and that needed my assistance. Her legs were bad, but not as bad as they are now. I'm guessing she would find it just as bad after her ops ... whenever that will be. After each operation, she will be relagated to driving an automatic, for an as yet, unknown period. I am "contriving" to getting her into "Beneden's" private clinic in Kent ... £7,500 per knee ... or I think £10,500, if you were not a qualifying Civil Servant ... but don't quote me on that.
I mentioned the gist of my LR plans to her today. Oops!
"Will it be an automatic"? she asked. I don't think she drove my Champ (2.2 BMC diesel), but I'm sure that she has driven every other car that "we" have owned, including my S1 LWB, DAFs and 2CVs. Whatever, that's another hoop to jump through.
Not impossible!
I have decided that IF I go ahead, I will not be frightened off by the IVA ... which will force me to fit seat belts. My next problem is to find a copy of the "official" book of rules.
The current plan is build on a new, galvanised S2 chassis, but shortened to 80" ... or whatever is the shortest possible that allows the rear wheels to turn without touching the rear of fuel tank out-rigger. Preferably, that would use one-piece chassis rails, cut specially for the occasion. Alternatively, it could be cobbled from a front half-chassis glued to a rear half-chassis, by the manufacturers.
There's more, but's enough for now.
Er ... if anybody has the "
dregs" of an S2 chassis, with matching docs, drop me a PM, pretty please.
