I’ve got one of these buried in my store but I can’t for the life of me get is registered. I had a series 2 man inspect it 10 years ago and he gave me a full report. Trouble is it appears never to have been registered after demob. Mod aren’t interested in finding the paperwork. Legible vin number on the chassis. Might have another go at registering it with DVLA one day.

Not being registered after leaving service shouldn't be an issue. Do you have the military registration?

I assume Matt that these were the 'in service' photos of 93 EL 59 you refer to?

Thanks MineRover, yes the first two are stills from the colour film but I hadn't seen the other image before, but the 19th Infantry Brigade sign was still visible when I owned it. Sadly the person I sold it to dismantled it "to restore" and lost interest, so it was likely either scrapped or sold for parts.

If you have the chassis number it might be worthwhile seeing if the RLC Museum Archive have its "B Card", they can do a search by chassis number if you don't have its ERM, military reg no. That would give date into service and date of sale into civilian life.

Interesting to see those "top-cover" photos from NI in, I suppose, the 1970s ?. I have similar photos of me in Iraq 30 years later, still relying on the protection of a bit of canvas... we had some "Snatch" vehicles but even a year after the initial invasion we were still patrolling Basra in soft-top landrovers. My CQMS team were doing resupply runs in a DAF 4 Tonner with chicken wire on the windscreen. Ill-prepared lunacy.
