Sort of On topic, but I'll wash my mouth out anyway (S3
« on: January 17, 2020, 08:41:58 PM »

Hi,

Check this out ... https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/best-diesel-conversion-for-a-siii.44154/

If an S3 can do it, will an S2 do it better?

Could/would Richards build a chassis with the front cross-member moved forward a few inches, and would the drag link still work?

Hang on ... I was looking for an easy conversion to fit a simple and reliable engine into an old Disco ... but ... but ... maybe I should think about overcoming my personal problems with a Series ....hoist into the passenger seat ... and fitting gi-normous grand children into the back, etc.

Those posts were made 12/13 years ago ...

What worked then, what was economical, and what was available was different then.
And then you need to think about whether you want to keep your tax free historic vehicle status ???

As we say so many times, just because it's possible, doesn't mean it's sensible.

Hi Alan,

Fair points.

But I was thinking in Doomsday terms ... expensive and rationed fuel (which mustn't be diesel in towns), minimal spares support for engines with BO, etc.
