OT replacement parts for Lathe
« on: January 06, 2021, 01:11:05 PM »

My father in law 84 still is every day working in his 4 m2 workshop. :-X

I never understood how he managed to get all the tools in.
One off them is a big lathe what he almost still uses every day.
Now he has problems with a part of his lathe and he would like to have a replacement.

He alway’s told me he had a snailmail post address in the UK but that seems not to work anymore.

Atlas 3986.  model nr. 102909
Atlas press co.

It is regarding the part on the photo (is that a “ tailstock in Englisch?)  ???

Are there still (second hand) parts for this lathe?

Yes there are - I would contact Tony Griffiths at lathes.co.uk in the first instance as he has a very extensive stock.

What's wrong with the tailstock?  General bits may fit - for example the chuck probably fits with a Morse taper - so any chuck with the same taper will fit.

There are a number of bits on e-bay - most seem to come from the USA and have expensive carriage costs.

RGD Tools sell loads of bits for lathes - ancient and modern:

And there are some others.
