Nothing here in Palm Springs, though I may have to break out my long trousers this weekend, apparently it will be dropping below 70f......

Managed to get out for a trundle to move the oil around. Nice sunshine and plenty of views. Plenty of hardpack still kicking about in quiet areas, some of it fairly skiddy as the sun was on it after a couple of nights of ?-5 to -10C?. Genuinely had to push the yellow knob a couple of times on the steeper uphill sections, but the final push up to the windfarm was dissappointingly salted and clear - I suppose the substation up there is a strategic asset and gets some priority treatment. A fair proportion of nice white routes though, including a very short "green lane" section. Going downhill on the warming hardpack was slightly concerning on a couple of occasions.

I've got heaps and piles and wads and drifts of the stuff.   It's just amazing how well these old beasties do in the truly deep and treacherous snow.

Yes, I was pushing snow deep enough to come over the front bumper.

Excellent, I was wondering if you might have some pics to show us how snow is done!

Last time we had snow at bumper height (2018, the last time we had any real snow) I couldn't get enough traction to keep moving. I was on mud tyres though which are a bit rubbish in snow.

That's because we are soft southerners... Mind you - we do get better hurricanes.

Today we have the start of a thaw, temps higher, rain rather than snow, "Flood-line warning" as a result...

Two weeks ago the "Community Voluntary Enterprise" co-ordination folk sent out an email offering community groups bags of rock-salt to help the elderly & those with mobility problems.... cue several rounds of emails.... Apply, get response "confirm you are happy...GDPR details ?" Did that. Next email " You have been allocated 2 bags, confirm you understand what purposes they can be used for". Did that. Next email, "They can be collected or delivered by either of two named voluntary organisation, which do you prefer?". Reply saying "Either, happy to collect, what is easiest for them? ".  3 days later I'm told they will deliver. The stuff, 2 bags, < £10 if bought from B&Q, finally arrived yesterday afternoon. 14 days from first notification to delivery... and today its starting to thaw.

I've sent a grumpagram suggesting that their Post Operational Review might look to prioritise delivery of a physical output over "process" next time....

No doubt their report back to the funders will include a line about providing support, community resilience etc !

Grrr.

We had the largest snow fall in a couple of decades here in New Jersey.  My town set the record at 40".  However, It's not as cold on this side the pond.  Nothing approaching what I see reported on the forum. 0 degrees?

Braemar, a couple of hours from here, hit -23C last week, -9F.

Locally we were at -10c, 14F, overnight, according to a neighbour.
